Our litigation department is focused on making what can be a lengthy court process as expeditious and cost effective as possible.

We attend to a broad spectrum of litigious matters including inter alia evictions, applications to enforce the landlord’s right over goods on the leased premises, liquidation applications, interdict proceedings, disputes over goods sold and delivered and monies loaned and advanced, family law, as well as a variety of other civil and criminal matters across all forums consisting of the Appeal Courts, High Courts, Magistrates Courts, and Family Courts

Debt Collection
De Abreu and Cohen Incorporated has a very successful Debt Collection department that is comprised of two debt collection clerks overseen by an attorney at all times.

We undertake to provide an excellent service to all our clients and to attend to each mater diligently.

The legal costs charged are based on the prescribed rates as per the Magistrate’s court tariff plus an additional forty (40%) percent, and these costs are excluding vat.

We will endeavour to recover the capital amount, all costs and interest from the debtors, should the debtor have signed an Agreement with you in terms of which the debtor has undertaken liability for Attorney/own client costs.

We have a special focus on recovery of Sectional Title Levies and work closely with Managing Agents and Trustees of Body Corporates in this regard.


De Abreu and Cohen Incorporated has a very successful Conveyancing department with a proven track record. All matters are personally supervised by a Conveyancer. We undertake to provide an excellent service to all our clients and to attend to each matter diligently and expeditiously.

We are able to offer our clients the benefit of very personal attention due to the fact that we work closely together in a small firm. We maintain contact with the Purchasers and Sellers and all involved parties to ensure that communication between parties is fostered, allowing all transactions to be concluded smoothly.

We provide weekly reports on all matters and are willing to meet with Agents and the Seller and Purchaser as and when necessary at no additional charge. Further we communicate with all involved parties as and when bond approvals are obtained, suspensive conditions are met, and when any lodgments and registrations take place.

Our Cape Town Conveyancing Department is focused on Transfers. We also assist with a range of Divorce transfers as well as Estate transfers.
